Talking about…Josh H

Josh H is one of the biggest inspirations behind this blog. His book “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” has deeply (deeply!) influenced my attitude to dating altogether. Not just my own attitude either; this one book was hugely influential in the late 90’s and the years following amongst young single Evangelical Christians.

Well a few months ago I heard the sad news that Josh H has renounced the ideas in “I Kissed Dating Goodbye”. Actually he has renounced many things, which I don’ really want to go into, as it all just makes me feel sad…

What I would say to Josh H is that you are still my hero, even though your views now completely disagree with my own. And you always will be. “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” is still hugely influential in my life, even though you as the author may have chosen to disown it.

What I would say to everyone else is this: this is a timely reminder that this blog, as well as I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and similar blogs and books – no matter how powerful they are, they are all aids. Nothing should ever remotely approach the authority of the Bible in our lives. As the author of this blog I am sincere – but still hugely flawed – like Josh H, I am not God, and I never will be. So please please please do not ever make the mistake of putting your faith in me, but rather keep your faith in the only place where it can ever belong – in God and God and God alone.
